Speaking of P*Land, I came across this David Hockney piece, "Pearblossom Highway" which was taken a few miles west of Phelan, where I grew up in the 1970s. Yup, this is pretty much what it looked like.
Alma's Soulfood WAS mainly about sharing baby pictures with scattered family and friends. But now we've obviously given this blog over to the kid as he's grown older :-)
I bought this very book at the flea sometime ago but haven't read it yet. I forgot I had it. Hmm..it looks exactly like this cover, even today.
